Authors submission checklist

AUTHOR SUBMISSION CHECKLIST:

Before submitting your manuscript to the LUMHS Undergraduate Medical Research Journal (LUMHS-UMRJ), please ensure that all the following requirements have been carefully completed. Submissions that do not comply with these guidelines may be returned for revision prior to peer review.

1. Manuscript Preparation

☐ The manuscript is written in clear, concise English and has been proofread for grammar and formatting.
☐ The manuscript is prepared in Microsoft Word format (DOC or DOCX), typed in Times New Roman, 12-point font, double-spaced.
☐ The text follows the Vancouver referencing style, with references numbered consecutively as they appear in the text.
☐ The manuscript includes the following sections in the correct order (as applicable):

  • Title Page
  • Abstract (structured; 200-250 words)
  • Keywords
  • Introduction
  • Materials and Methods
  • Results
  • Discussion
  • Conclusion
  • Acknowledgment (if any)
  • Conflict of Interest Statement
  • References

2. Title Page

☐ The title page includes:

  • Full title of the manuscript (concise and descriptive)
  • Full names of all authors (first, middle initial, last)
  • Institutional affiliations of each author
  • Corresponding author’s name, email address, and contact number
  • ORCID ID of each author (if available)

3. Ethical Considerations

☐ A statement of Ethical Approval from the relevant Institutional Review Board (IRB) or Ethics Committee is included (with approval number).
☐ Informed consent has been obtained for all studies involving human participants or identifiable data.
☐ Animal study approval (if applicable) is mentioned, confirming adherence to institutional and national animal welfare guidelines.
☐ The Conflict of Interest Declaration is clearly stated.

☐ The clinical trial registration number is clearly mentioned

4. Figures and Tables

☐ All tables are numbered consecutively and titled appropriately.
☐ All figures and graphs are clear, high-resolution, and labeled correctly.
☐ Figures and tables are cited in the text in the correct numerical order.
☐ Legends for figures and tables are provided on a separate page.

5. Supporting Documents

☐ Author Contribution Statement (as per ICMJE criteria) is included.
☐ Ethical Approval Certificate is attached (PDF or image).
☐ Plagiarism and AI report (Turnitin/iThenticate) showing ≤19% similarity index is attached.
☐ Cover letter signed by the corresponding author, declaring originality and exclusive submission to LUMHS-UMRJ.
☐ Copyright Transfer and Declaration Form is duly signed by all authors.

6. General Compliance

☐ The manuscript has not been published previously and is not under consideration elsewhere.
☐ All authors have reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript.
☐ The manuscript complies with LUMHS-UMRJ formatting and ethical guidelines.

7. Submission

☐ The manuscript and all supplementary files have been uploaded via the OJS submission portal or sent to editor.umrj@lumhs.edu.pk.
☐ The submission confirmation email has been received.
